Silhouette Art

This fun lesson was created by Cheryl Collins.

Materials:
Watercolor paper, pencil, brushes, watercolor paint trays, black sharpies, water bowls, paper towels

Presentation:
Check out the slideshow, here

Activity:
1. Have the students draw their spooky house or tree, etc. in pencil (this took the most time).
2.  Using black sharpies, have the kids outline the picture.
3. Paint the background using the watercolors (practical tip: I always remind the kids to blot their brushes on a paper towel so they don't get soggy paper!)
4. Fill in their black outline with sharpie

The kids had a lot of fun doing this lesson - you can also do it without the halloween flair.
